Malecon de Chapala
The Malecon offers numerous activities to keep you entertained. Taking a boat ride on the lake, for example, will allow you to contemplate Chapala’s waterfront from a whole new perspective. For all types of tourists and age groups, the promenade is equipped with children’s playgrounds and several mini-bars. Here you can enjoy a delicious michelada.
Chapala’s boardwalk is an ideal place for a morning stroll or a cycling adventure. You can also bring your pet to enjoy the extensive boardwalk and its green surroundings. And if you get hungry, head to the restaurant area, known as “la rampa” (the ramp). Here you can indulge in a delicious seafood dish, the seafood molcajetes being my personal recommendation.
In terms of attractions and activities, the Malecon is home to a skating area, a paradise for lovers of extreme sports to freely practice their skills. Another noteworthy element of Chapala’s Malecon is the new promenade, called “El Cristo Pescador” (The Fisher Christ). This innovative place has a plaza with a dancing fountain at its entrance. Next, a series of bridges lead to an artificial island that houses an impressive figure of Christ. This is just one of the many ways in which Chapala’s boardwalk continues to captivate visitors.
