Nature in the Lakeside
We know that the Chapala Lakeside and specifically the Ajijic area has the second best climate in the world, so its conditions are perfect for the extensive fauna and vegetation that abounds on the shores of Mexico’s largest lake. Nature on the shores of the lake is a daily occurrence here.
In the area we can find different landscapes, among which are the lake itself and its shores, the extensive territory of the mountains and hills, as well as at a certain altitude we can reach what is known as the Sierra de San Juan Cosalá, which is an excellent place for hiking.
Inside the lake, we have an extensive fauna, we can find a great variety of fish, such as tilapia, carp and Charles, among others, and we can also appreciate endemic birds such as the coots, herons, the so-called in Spanish “water dogs” and pelicans, which although they are not endemic, the community already considers them as such.
The drive along the Lakeside, along the road that is right next to the mountains becomes an extraordinary ride as the scenery of the large foliage on the hills is an incredible sight. And even more incredible when the mountains are green in the spring-summer season.
The fauna of the area is too extensive, including deer, hawks, wild boars, wild cats, rattlesnakes, eagles, vultures, vultures, sparrows, quails, and many more species that would be impossible to mention all, but that make Lake Chapala a very diverse place.
Enjoying nature in this place is one of the most beautiful activities, you can go hiking in the vast territory of the mountains or, if you wish, you can go camping, as well as sitting on the shore of the lake is an excellent idea if you are looking to relax.
